It turned out to be a very costly afternoon for Betfred after boss and huge United fan Fred Done had already paid out on Manchester United as Champions in early April.

The bookie was the first to admit that in the end Man City deserved the title saying,

"I can't remember an afternoon like that and the blood pressure would not cope with another. I'm gutted but fair play to City they have been the best team over 38 games. I had already paid out 500 grand to United punters and the Blues winning has just cost me another 300 grand, plus the wife is not speaking to me. No sour grapes from me though and I've sent a case of champagne to both Roberto Mancini and Brian Kidd. Well done fellas."

It's not the first time Fred Done has faced a double pay out. He famously became the first ever bookie to pay out early in 1998 when Manchester United were twelve points clear only for Arsenal to win the title by one point.
