The second most expensive destination on the survey is Amsterdam , with a price tag of only a few pounds fewer than Edinburgh . Venice rounds out the Top 3 with an overnight rate of GBP 207 for the least expensive double room.

Among the other UK destinations considered for this survey, London and York are the priciest. They rank fourth and fifth most expensive in Europe with rates of GBP 201 and GBP 190 , respectively. On the other side of the spectrum, Glasgow is among Europe's least expensive destinations. In Scotland's largest city, New Year's Eve celebrators should find a room for around GBP 60 on December 31 .
