Kesko's sales in May 2013
KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 14.06.2013 AT 09.00 1(2)
The Kesko Group's sales, excluding VAT, in May 2013 totalled EUR847.0 million, down 1.7%.
In Kesko's food trade, sales in May were EUR 386.6 million, an increase of 3.9% compared to the previous year.
In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in May were EUR111.8 million, a decrease of 9.5%. Sales performance was particularly impacted by the decrease in department store sales as well as network changes in Musta Pörssi and Intersport Russia.
In the building and home improvement trade, sales in May were EUR262.2 million, a decrease of 7.7%. Sales in Finland were down 9.9%. Sales abroad decreased in Norway and Lithuania. This is attributable to the changes that took place in the chain in Norway in 2012. Sales increased in other countries.
In the car and machinery trade, sales in May were EUR102.5 million, an increase of 6.1%. VV-Auto's sales in May were EUR69.9 million, up 18.8%. In the previous year, sales decreased due to the car tax change effective 1 April 2012. In May, Volkswagen was the market leader in the first-time registrations of both passenger cars and vans and the combined market share of the passenger cars and vans represented by VV-Auto was 22.0% (20.3%). Konekesko's sales in May were EUR32.6 million, a decrease of 13.7% from the previous year.

In May 2013, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland was 21, which was the same as in the previous year. The total number of selling days in January-May was the same as in the previous year. The number of retail selling days in May was 27, which was the same as in the previous year. The total number of retail selling days in January-May was one less than in the previous year.
