The actor and presenter Stephen Fry, super chef Jamie Oliver, and boy band sensation JLS are the first amongst many big name stars who have already signed up to host campaigns.

Prizeo.com allows celebrities to engage with their Facebook and Twitter followers in order to promote the prize and raise money for the star's chosen charity.

Celebrities offer a 'money can't buy' prize or experience, for the public to win - and it only costs £1 to enter.

QI star Stephen Fry is the first to put the platform through its paces with his own fundraiser for Mind, the mental health charity. Fans could win a unique VIP QI experience which includes a rare opportunity to QI the quizmaster himself with their own questions.

Fry, a keen adopter of new technology said; "When I first heard the idea I thought, why has nobody ever thought of that before? Prizeo is a fresh, innovative and above all inclusive approach to fundraising. I'm a strong believer in using technology for good."

Prizeo is the brainchild of two young entrepreneurs, Leo Seigal (21) and Bryan Baum (22), who met while studying at Oxford University.

Taking time out between lectures they raised a staggering £650,000 by staging charity auctions for the philanthropic Aloysius Society.

Co-founder Leo Seigal comments: "Our unique and bespoke prize packages will allow people to not only interact closely with the charities they support, but also for celebrities to connect with their fans in a more meaningful way, allowing them to directly use their star power to help raise money for the causes closest to their hearts."

Prizeo have been accepted into Silicon Valley's prestigious Y Combinator, the birthplace of many successful digital start-ups including Dropbox, Reddit and Airbnb.
