The Kesko Group's sales, excluding VAT, in December 2013 totalled EUR813.4 million, down 3.0%.

 

In Kesko's food trade, sales in December were EUR407.9 million, an increase of 4.3% compared to the previous year. In December, the number of delivery days was one more than in the previous year.

 

In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in December were EUR192.4 million, a decrease of 10.2%. Sales performance was impacted by the decrease in department store sales, as well as network changes in Musta Pörssi and Intersport Russia. Online sales were up from the previous year.

 

In the building and home improvement trade, sales in December were EUR165.0 million, a decrease of 9.5%. In terms of local currencies and excluding the impact of retailer changes in Norway, sales increased by 0.2%. Sales in Finland decreased by 6.3%. Sales abroad decreased by 11.7% in terms of euros. In terms of local currencies and excluding the impact of retailer changes in Norway, sales growth in foreign operations was 4.6%. In December, the number of delivery days was one more than in the previous year.

 

In the car and machinery trade, sales in December were EUR64.4 million, a decrease of 3.1%. VV-Auto's sales in December were EUR46.7 million, up 1.2%. In both December and throughout 2013, Volkswagen was the market leader in the first registrations of both passenger cars and vans. In 2013, the combined market share of passenger car and van brands represented by VV-Auto was 20.6% (20.2%). Konekesko's sales in December were EUR17.7 million, a decrease of 12.9% from the previous year.

In December 2013, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland was 18, which was one more than in the previous year. The total number of selling days in January-December was the same as in the previous year. The number of retail selling days in December was 28, which was the same as in the previous year. The total number of retail selling days in January-December was one less than in the previous year.
