Send Me On Vacation, a 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to sending breast cancer survivors on vacations to rejuvenate their mind, body and spirit, is excited to announce Sip for the Trip! to be held in October, during crush season in wine country.
Los Angeles, California-- Six Napa/Sonoma wineries have joined forces with Send Me On Vacation to raise funds to send breast cancer survivors on well-deserved vacations around the world. The wineries include such prestigious names as: Hunter III Wines, Chase Family Cellars, Annadel Estate Winery, Michael Mondavi Family Estate, Peju Winery and Cakebread Cellars.
October is a special month for both the wineries and Send Me On Vacation; October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month as well as crush season for the wineries. Crush season is truly a spectacular time for wineries as the best grapes that have been harvested are crushed to release their succulent juices. This process can be done either with the use of a big, automated crusher-destemmer, which both breaks the skins of the grapes to expose the pulp and juice while preserving the stems and seeds. Once the juice has been extracted, the fermenting process begins.
"Last year, we were able to send four local cancer survivors on vacation," said Send Me On Vacation's founder, Cathy Backus. "This year, our goal is to exceed that goal and continue to support women who have received treatment at the Martin O'Neal Cancer Center in St. Helena, California."
Send Me On Vacation accredits much of the success of Sip For The Trip! to Victoria Acquistapace, Director of Sales and Marketing for Hunter III Winery and well as to Rob Hunter, President and Winemaker at Hunter III Winery.
"The charity has depended heavily on the hard work and commitment this boutique winery has shown," said Cathy Backus.
Early next year, a Rose wine will be released by Hunter III Winery in honor of and inspired by the vision that Send Me On Vacation stands for, with proceeds going back to the charity.
"We are truly grateful to the many wineries that have stepped up to the plate to help these amazing women as they recover from breast cancer treatments," Send Me On Vacation's communications director and reputation expert Walter Halicki said. "We appreciate everything they are doing to allow these women to take these well-deserved vacations.
Send Me On Vacation is dedicated to sending breast cancer survivors on much-needed vacations to help rejuvenate their mind, body and spirit after treatment has been completed.
