- Environmental Tectonics Corporation's ("ETC" or the "Company") Simulation Division, located in Orlando, FL, announced today that the underground tunnel incident location has been selected as the 2012 scenario to be distributed to current ADMS(TM) Total Support plan customers.

The selected scenario consists of an underground road traffic tunnel with two tubes, divided by a wall, each with two traffic lanes.  The tunnel is more than 500m long and includes ventilation and interior lighting.  Some of the challenges that a tunnel incident creates include: confined space, limited ingress/egress, varying elevation and gradients, low visibility, long distance and little circulation.   The scenario simulates traffic and spectators, and also allows for hazardous materials, fire, explosions and casualties.

Terry Lonchena, ADMS coordinator at Butler Community College, said, "We were fortunate to view the scenario at the 2011 User's Conference during the UpSafety Project presentation.  Because of our demographics and proximity to Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the tunnel scenario is ideal not only for educating the first responders that would respond to incidents, but also the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, as they are the main responding state agency for tunnel emergencies.   Our tunnel systems carry thousands of vehicles daily, are used if there should be a mass evacuation, and can be potentially viewed as a terrorist target.   This scenario will be a very important addition for us, and we appreciate ETC Simulation's continued commitment to providing the best for its customers."

All current ETC Simulation customers who have enrolled in the Total Support plan will receive the new 2012 scenario as part of their agreement.  Proposed scenarios are discussed during the previous year's ADMS User's Conference where customers have the opportunity to weigh in on their favorites.   The simulated Tunnel accident consists of a base scenario of four cars, one tanker truck, and one cargo truck with passengers that can be selected as casualties and has traffic that will build over time.  Additionally, the newly released SmartModel(TM) library allows for immediate placement of numerous objects and elements, creating unlimited scenario possibilities.

ETC Simulation's President, Marco van Wijngaarden, said, "Underground tunnels are an important component of our critical transportation infrastructures and pose unique challenges to the response community.  We are excited to be able to offer the tunnel scenario to our customers to further expand their training capabilities.  We are committed to providing our customers with the most comprehensive selection of scenarios available and this speaks to the value of the ADMS Total Support plan."

ADMS(TM) is a high-fidelity Virtual Reality Simulation Training Stage that houses multiple products including Incident Command training from technical to strategic level (ADMS-Command), driver training and vehicle operation (ADMS-ARFF and ADMS-Drive) and multiple level police coordination for crowd management and riot control (ADMS-Control).  ETC's signature technology blends physics-based simulation, embedded artificial intelligence, accurate animations, photo-realistic graphics, ambient sounds, vehicle controls, and motion platforms to totally immerse trainees in the exercise.  ADMS enables first responders and emergency managers to prepare at all levels of response in a safe, economical and environmentally-conscious way.

ETC Simulation ( www.ETCsimulation.com ), located in Orlando, FL, specializes in virtual reality emergency and disaster management training systems.  Their hallmark product, ADMS(TM), is a proven tool for training emergency management personnel at all levels, with more than one million successful training hours completed in 11 countries.

ETC (OTCQB: ETCC) designs, manufactures and sells software driven products and services used to recreate and monitor the physiological effects of motion on humans and equipment and to control, modify, simulate and measure environmental conditions.  These products include aircrew training systems (aeromedical, tactical combat and general), disaster management systems, sterilizers (steam and gas), environmental testing products and hyperbaric chambers and other products and services that involve similar manufacturing techniques and engineering technologies.  ETC's unique ability to offer complete systems, designed and produced to high technical standards, sets it apart from its competition.
