According to Peruvian news outlet LaMula (www.lamula.pe) the small indigenous community, located in the southern Andes Mountains of Peru, reported their perils of an armed group allegedly attacking their homes and residents. Despite ongoing requests to local authorities to take action, as well as more recent requests made formally by their ruling Board of Trustees of Casma Palla-Palla, no actions were taken by authorities of this incident.

Due to the indigenous group not having financial means to seek help, a group of volunteers chose to launch a campaign. Since 2005, it was reported by LaMula that a published environmental report did not mention the existence of indigenous peoples. Through the initiative of a confidential source, actions were taken to challenge the mining company. From which Mr. Santos managed to acquire legal help from Dr. Mario Cavagnaro in Lima.

At the time, the law firm of Dr. Cavagnero coordinated a series of legal actions in an attempt to raise awareness of human rights violations going relatively unnoticed by the citizens of Peru. However, with the bulk of his efforts falling on deaf ears, international support was paramount in order to make any real progress. Thus Casma Global was born.

Casma Global was created and run by a non-profit organization. Its mission is informing CPP's ongoing struggle. Casma Palla-Palla hopes to find a peaceful resolution to this conflict between company and government. The organization was created for the initial effort to aid Casma Palla-Palla and drew inspiration from similar cases Cases such as: Conga Conflict in Cajamarca ( Tia Maria Case), Tambo Valley Region, Doe Run Case, Cuenca Llallimayo, Yanacocha Maxima Acuna, all of which have been featured in news articles around the world.
