GRE® Program Unveils New Test Preparation Tools to Help Prospective Graduate and Business School Students
The GRE Program recently offered a free world premiere of its new test preparation video " Success Starter: The test maker's guide to doing your best on USNews.com, followed by a free showing on the GRE® revised General Test page on Facebook®. Prospective test takers who missed the free preview can download the video at the ETS store for US$7 . "This video is the perfect jumpstart to an individual's test preparation plan. In just 22 minutes, it gives a helpful overview of the test and some key tips for success," says Dawn Piacentino , Director of Communications and Services for the GRE Program at ETS.
The new video follows the introduction of the GRE Program's expanded test preparation book, Featuring more than 500 pages of test prep help, the now includes four complete practice tests — two in the book and two on the included CD-ROM (Ver. 2.0). The simulated tests on the CD are the closest to the actual test experience that an individual can get. The is available in print and eBook formats for US$35 directly from ETS and is also available in bookstores throughout the world. In addition, a new GRE test prep mobile app is in development and more details will be available soon.
"Everything we're doing is designed to help test takers succeed," says Piacentino. "In 2011, we introduced the GRE revised General Test, which test takers agree is more test-taker friendly thanks to enhancements such as the ability to move back and forth within a section, the onscreen calculator for the entire Quantitative Reasoning section and other new features. This year, we added the new SM) option that allows GRE test takers to select which scores from their reportable history to send to schools. Now, test takers only have to send the scores they feel reflect their personal best, which should help them approach test day with more confidence. The new test preparation tools further help to make test takers feel even more ready."
ETS officials believe the GRE revised General Test, with its more friendly features, is getting nods from test takers and institutions worldwide. More than 1,000 business schools now accept GRE scores for their MBA programs, as admissions professionals seek to attract talented individuals from the strong GRE test-taker population. GRE score use by graduate schools around the globe is also growing. Piacentino says, "These are exciting times for the GRE Program. More schools than ever are using GRE scores — and we know we are helping test takers feel more confident about taking a decisive step toward pursuing their goals. It's good news for all."
