Nokia Networks explores potential of 5G below 6 GHz frequencies with NTT DOCOMO

To help drive future standardization of 5G* technology, Nokia Networks has partnered with NTT DOCOMO, INC. (DOCOMO) to explore and harness the potential of Nokia Networks' 5G radio technology in the 4.4-4.9 GHz band. In the joint research project, both companies are working towards achieving throughput speeds of 10 Gbps and optimized latency using frequencies below 6 GHz . * 5G is in the exploration / pre-standardized research phase. Its commercialization is planned for 2020. IMT2020 vision work in ITU-R is ongoing; 3GPP 5G work is expected to start with Release 14 early 2016.
