The results form part of a wider project to help Londoners make the most of their downtime, in the form of a comprehensive range of London Area Guides - complete with stunning photography crafted by renowned London photographer, Jacintha Verdegaal and in collaboration with several influential bloggers.

So where do Londoners most like to unwind when taking a break from work? The results are in - with some surprising inclusions:

29% of survey recipients highlighted Covent Garden as their favourite place to relax in the city. Now heavily pedestrianised, Covent Garden - at the heart of London's West End - is a popular place to explore, shop, visit a museum and eat and drink.

The main two reasons for choosing the area were for its restaurants and bars, in addition to its shopping options.

In second spot is Canary Wharf, with 13% of respondents choosing the area as their number one place to relax in the capital.

When the office workers have gone home, the area is a peaceful place to explore some of London's oldest areas. If you know where to look, you can find cosy pubs, excellent restaurants, cultural heritage and public art.

62% of people who chose this area did so for its restaurants and bars, closely followed by its hidden gems.

With its impressive skyline and mix of options to relax, 11% of respondents chose London Bridge as their top place to unwind. It is perhaps unsurprising that the main reason they did so was due to London Bridge's restaurants and bars. Renowned 'foodie heaven', Borough Market is nearby, as well as the Bankside area, lined with eateries.

There are 15 locations called out in the survey, so where did popular places like Shoreditch and Soho place in the results? Flexioffices' blog has the answers, while you can explore the whole set of stunning area guides at Flexioffices.co.uk/area-guides.
