Minor leakage of tailings along the tailing pipe at the Laiva mine

On December 14^th a leakage was noticed of tailings out of the tailings pipe between the plant and the paste-area at the Laiva mine. The tailings are the very same that are deposited at the paste-area.

 

Nordic Mines estimates the leakage to maximum of about 80 cubic meter of slurry, of which a maximum of about 20 cubic meter of tailings. Nordic Mines estimates the total time of leakage to less than 1.5 hour.

 

The Finnish Centre for Economic Development, Transport and Environment completed a regulatory inspection at the point of the leakage during Saturday December 15^th. During the inspection it was concluded that a minor amount of tailings had leaked out in the surroundings.

 

Nordic Mines have sampled the slurry and the water in the surroundings. The results of the samples are expected to be completed within the coming weeks. Nordic Mines will continue with daily samplings.
