Budding Guitarists are Being Offered the Chance to Learn to Play for Free

The sessions, which usually cost £150, give would-be rockers of any age the opportunity to learn or improve their musical skills.

Josh Berry, aged 10, who attends Rockstart in Derby, said: "I love my guitar lessons, I've learnt how to play Smoke On The Water. I can't wait for next week."

Lead tutor Jack Gration said: "We have adults and kids classes and all abilities are welcome. Over the six week course we'll teach you the basics of guitar and get you playing one of your favourite songs by the end of it."

Rockstart is currently being launched in Streatham and Brixton, south London and is already up and running in the Midlands with venues including Mansfield, Wollaton and Derby.

The winner will get an electric guitar and six hours of group tuition.
