Kesko's sales in August increased by 3.0%
KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 14.09.2012 AT 09.00 1(2)
The Kesko Group's sales in August 2012 , excluding VAT, totalled EUR 882.8 million, showing an increase of 3.0%.
In Kesko's food trade, sales in August were EUR390.3 million, an increase of 4.7%. Sales to the K-food store chains were up 3.2%. Kespro's sales grew by 9.9%. The sales of Pirkka products to K-food stores increased by 6.5%.
In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in August were EUR141.0 million, an increase of 5.4%. The best sales growth was achieved by K-citymarket's home and speciality goods and Intersport.
In the building and home improvement trade, sales in August were EUR274.5 million, an increase of 1.2%. Sales in Finland were down 5.3%. Sales abroad increased by 6.2% in terms of euros. In Russia, sales increased by 24.2% in terms of euros.
In the car and machinery trade, sales in August were EUR92.2 million, a decrease of 1.8%. VV-Auto's sales in August were EUR59.1 million, down 10.5%, which was attributable to a decline of the passenger car and van market after the car tax change. Konekesko's sales in August were EUR 33.2 million, an increase of 18.8% from the previous year .

In August 2012 , the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland was 23, which was the same as in the previous year . The total number of selling days in January-August was one more than in the previous year . The number of retail selling days in August was 31, which was the same as in the previous year . The total number of retail selling days in January-August was one more than in the previous year.
