The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation Presents a Symposium of Coral Reef Conservation in the Red Sea

The symposium marks the conclusion of four years of Red Sea research by the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation, working primarily in collaboration with the Saudi Wildlife Authority (SWA) and the U.S. National Coral Reef Institute (NCRI). Between 2006 and 2009, the Foundation conducted extensive reef surveys along the Saudi Arabian Red Sea coast. Researchers have now combined field data from their SCUBA assessments of corals and fishes with information from satellite imagery and field sensors to create detailed coral reef habitat maps of the Red Sea reefs of Saudi Arabia.
