In the light of these memorandums of understanding, the Egyptian partners will benefit from the exchange of expertise and knowledge transfer in the field of technical assistance, consultation, training of trainers/teachers in the hospitality and tourism sector as well as upgrading and joint certification of the Egyptian trainees in the field. City & Guilds was chosen as the international partner because their qualifications are intended for people training for or employed in the hospitality and catering worldwide and provide the knowledge and skills appropriate for this international industry. They establish the knowledge and skills required from initial food preparation and cooking methods to culinary arts and supervisory responsibilities and are applicable across a wide range of cultures. These qualifications are underpinned by the premise that a good foundation of high quality cooking skills and the ability to apply them across a range of catering contexts is essential for work as a successful chef.
City & Guilds works closely with industry experts to set the standards for vocational education, that's why they are recognised and trusted by centres, learners and employers the world over for developing relevant qualifications for the modern workplace. For example, City & Guilds and the World Association of Chefs Society (WACS), a global authority on food and beverage standards, have a strategic partnership aimed at promoting and raising standards of culinary education.
This new initiative with ETP Horest and City & Guilds will see both partners cooperate to identify the needs of national and international recognition of training in the Egyptian hospitality and tourism sector and to develop a long term strategy for implementation.
These MOUs and accompanying the first workshop is a step towards implementing a long term, sustainable partnerships that will focus on the capacity building and development of the ETP and the whole sector.
"We are delighted to announce our partnership with the Egypt Tourism Federation - ETF Horest. With tourism a vital industry and employer in Egypt the ETF have recognized the need to built capacity and benchmark to international standards. The Culinary Training Institute, supported by ETP is an initiative aimed at realizing this objective. City & Guilds are very pleased to be involved in this exciting project with our partners and look forward to working together to develop skills." said Amanda Kelleher, Regional Manager for City & Guilds Group.
