Las Vegas, Nevada - El Cid Timeshare provides its guests with luxurious vacation accommodations at some of the most incredible destinations around Mexico. Last month, El Cid Timeshare welcomed the MetLife IronMan 70.3 Cozumel 2013 Race.

The MetLife IRONMAN is a triathlon that tests athlete's limits during the swimming, biking and running portions of the race. The first leg of the race is a one-loop 1.2-mile swim off the coast of Cozumel, which then leads to a 56-mile biking section from Chankanaab Park to the City Hall of Cozumel. To finish off this grueling competition, contestants must then run 13.1 miles on a flat, paved course past many of Cozumel's most visited attractions and historic neighborhoods.

El Cid Timeshare guests at El Cid La Ceiba Beach resort were truly astounded with how incredibly physically fit these athletes are and the determination they show when competing. The winner of the pro men's group, James Cunnama completed the entire course in just three hours, 44 minutes and six seconds. He gained the lead after an excellent performance in the swimming leg of the race, which pushed him ahead of the competition. He finished neck-and-neck with Terenzo Bozzone, but bested him by 40 seconds to win the race. For the women, Annabel Luxford came out on top. She also pulled ahead of the competition during the swimming portion of the race, which set her up to win with an incredible time of four hours, nine minutes and 58 seconds.

The IRONMAN races occur all over the world in Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa, and North and South America. These races are the ultimate test of an athlete's strength, endurance and mental toughness. When pushing one's body to the limit for four hours straight, it takes a strong will to make it through the fatigue and the pain. These athletes are truly one of a kind and train all year for the chance to win the title.
