"The single market has improved the lives of some 500 million people, in the ways people live, do business, study and travel" EP president Martin Schulz said on the occasion of Single Market Week, which takes place across Europe from 15 to 19 October 2012.
More rights for passengers, help for service suppliers trading across borders, cheaper calls abroad, better protection for citizens' savings and easy, cheap and rapid redress for consumers - these are just a few of the advantages promoted by the European Parliament in 20 years of single market.
Schulz "the 20th anniversary should give new impetus to the single market project, both for growth and for social justice".
