The Voice of Korea's Publishing Industry, Ready for Korea Market Focus at The London Book Fair 2014

27 companies including publishers, e-book specialists and print companies will participate in the market focus at the London Book Fair. Korean Publishers Association (KPA) has prepared a variety of sessions such as Market Focus on Korean digital publishing, Introduction to Korean Authors, and Seminars for Publication Experts along with different cultural events.
The KPA expresses their expectation that this opportunity at the fair will pave the road for more open discussion and exchanges and more networking between international and Korean publishers in the future.
With a membership of 570 publishers in Korea, the KPA is the main voice of the nation's publishing industry since 1947. The KPA produces the Seoul international book fair which is the biggest book fair in Korea. Hosting the fair every June, they promote the Korean reading culture introducing newest titles to Korean readers and let foreign visitors indirectly experience life in Korea. Also, the association organizes Korean collective stand in various international book fairs.
By participating at major international book fairs like LBF, KPA has endeavored to facilitate more exchanges between Korean and international publishers. The Korean Collective Stand is organized in order to promote the development of the Korean publishing industry. It is aimed to support Korean publishers in search of potential business partners wanting to expand their businesses abroad. For the year 2014, The KPA runs Korean Collective Stands at 9 international book fairs including The Bologna Children's Book Fair, The Beijing International Book Fair, and The Frankfurt Book Fair.
In addition, The KPA makes efforts to protect the right of writers and publishers by implementing the resale price maintenance, and they promote the publication market by safeguarding its development and introducing innovative measures.
Seoul International Book Fair
Organized by Korea Publishers Association, Seoul International Book Fair is an annually held event for the purpose of developing the Korean publication industry, promoting reading, and facilitating exchanges between Korean and international publishers. In order to promote more open discussion and sharing of ideas, the book fair included different events as well as seminars for publishers and experts in the field. The guest country of honor for 2013 Seoul International Book Fair was India with the Culture Focus on Canada. 25 different countries and 610 publishers participated in the book fair this year with 129,210 visitors. The 20th Seoul International Book Fair in 2014 is scheduled to be held at COEX from June 18 to 22.
