A Revolution in Edatel's Offering: StreamWIDE's Fixed-Wireless Convergence Service

This 16,000 Million Pesos (USD$ 9M) investment, freshly launched in January in Edatel's coverage area is an extraordinary and innovative endeavor.  "Wireless Extension" is a smart fixed-wireless convergence feature which allows fixed-line customers to enjoy the freedom of using a wireless device to place and receive calls. This service is an extension of their fixed line number with the same fixed line telephony plan. This offering is available to Edatel through StreamWIDE Global Communications software platform integrated with a fourth generation UMTS and HSDPA access network.

As reported in El Colombiano*, "… with this functionality we complement and strengthen the fixed telephone service, attending to the needs of our current and potential customers, providing them with the possibility of speaking more, from anywhere, without changing your phone number and with the economy, comfort and ease of a fixed line," said the CEO of the company, Beatriz Elena Henao Quintero, who presided over the launch in Montería, on January 17, 2012.

StreamWIDE Global Communications (SGC) is a highly customizable Call Management platform that provides trigger-based MO/MT call routing, contact-based call screening features, handles virtual numbers and can integrate with a voicemail service, a network address book or many other platforms through an open API. SGC addresses multiple different use cases such as virtual numbers, converged communications, multi-SIM, one number or second line services.
