In existing smartwatches and wearables, up to 80% of the power consumption is related to heartrate monitoring when it is activated. A new generation of sensors, developed by ActLight in close co-operation with EPFL, provides high precision heartrate monitoring with significantly reduced energy consumption. This will result in much improved battery lifetime in future smartwatches as well as allowing for extended use of heartrate sensing features related to sports and wellbeing. Already tested and calibrated, ActLight's heartrate sensor is ready to be produced in large series to equip next generation wearables.

"Increased interest in fitness and wellness - has necessitated more affordable, precise, wearable sensing options. Our technology offers unique competitive advantages to our partners when compared to existing Photo Diodes used in wearable heartrate solutions" stated Serguei Okhonin, PhD, CEO of ActLight.

"Today's smartwatches and wearables fall short of meeting customer requirements when it comes to heartrate measurement precision and application battery life time. ActLight is now working with a number of partners to bring this technology into consumer electronics and MedTech grade solutions. We are open for IP licensing of our patented DPD technology that we own 100%" Mr. Okhonin continued.
