Figo, Roberto Carlos, Karembeu and Kluivert Are Some of La Liga BBVA Ambassadors in its International Expansion

The Spanish football league (LaLiga) introduced the ten players who shall serve as Liga BBVA ambassadors in a gala which was attended by former players who will be responsible for expanding the international image of the competition. The players were presented by Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, who said that "With the great team of #LaLigaAmbassadors we will remain the best league in the world."

Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos, Frederic Kanoute, Fernando Morientes, Christian Karembeu, Patrick Kluivert, David Albelda, Michel Salgado, Ismael Urzaiz, and Gaizka Mendieta formed the ambassadors' team, joined by LaLiga's president, Javier Tebas, and Fernando Sanz, LaLiga's office Director in Middle East and North Africa.

The goal of the agreement with these reputed international players is to strengthen LaLiga's presence in markets in which it competes with the main European football leagues, as well as with other mass sports in those territories, such as basketball and baseball.

"We want to expand and maintain our position as the best league in the world. As with games, there is no room to relax, there is much competition and we cannot fall asleep. With this great team of ambassadors we will remain the best league in the world. All have been icons at LaLiga, every one of them has had a special character. They add all the values of quality and effort. The values they had on the pitch were spread around the world," said Javier Tebas.

At the event, the ten ambassadors and Fernando Sanz received a replica of the first Panini sticker featuring their debuts in LaLiga and they highlighted the "pride" of contributing to the expansion of Spanish football in every corner of the world and of collaborating on competition growth.
