FLIC Circus school was established in 2002 by the Reale Società Ginnastica di Torino, it is one of the most ancient gymnastic societies, born in 1844. The successful marriage between sports and educational tradition of the Reale Società Ginnastica di Torino (Royal Gymnastic Society of Turin) and the circus artistic initiative makes this school a reference point in the circus artists preparation. FLIC Circus School, through its two year training course, creates professional artists whit good physical preparation, technique and art forms, and who possess a wealth of design skills, relationship and organizational measures to confront themselves to the international contemporary circus world.
THE TRAINING COURSE
The programme entails a specific didactic training program in circus arts, with special attention given to the personal needs of each student while creating the foundations needed for every contemporary circus artist: i.e. circus performance, acrobatics, physical preparation, dance and circus discipline. The programme offers complete and balanced basic training to increase and enhance the artistic and expressive qualities of each student. The course is spread over a period of two years, dedicated to the development of a basic personal artistic project at the end of the course
During the first year, attention is given to the development of physical training and methodology learning. During the first year of the course, the student learns to work in a group; begins to gain the basis for correct physical training; comes into contact with many circus disciplines in order to make an educated choice for their specialization; learns and strengthens their general knowledge. After several group workshops with the Circus Performance teacher and after participating in various “Circo in Pillole” (monthly presentations in front of an informal audience) which are prepared exclusively for the group and without the requirement of the circus equipment. At the end of first year students face their first collective creation (accompanied by a director or choreographer) through a week of research and composition, in order to stimulate both their ability to work in groups and their creativity.
During the second year, the student specializes in a circus discipline of the their choice, works on research in creation and continues to work on physical preparation, acrobatics, circus performance and contemporary dance. The students learn the relationships with various themes and gain stage experience in front of an audience whilst being the creators and performers of the various “Circo in Pillole”; thus becoming increasingly autonomous and free in their own research. At the end of the two years, through the wealth of studies and their experiences gained during the course, students create and present a show under the guidance of an internationally recognized director.
Candidates who do not have the necessary foundation to enter the two-year programme, the school offers the possibility to attend a preparatory year that permits to fill the gaps needed prior to continuing their training.

Exhibitions - CIRCO IN PILLOLE
"Circo in pillole" is the monthly open stage show, planned to develop and train the relationship with the audience and the stage, through the presentation of the students’ research, both personal and collective. This is an important time for the student, who after training with the research time with the guest teachers, teachers and tutors, puts into practice lessons learned. The importance of "circo in pillole" is the experimentation and understanding of the importance of teamwork and company works associated with creation and scenography, and especially the awareness of how to be on stage . Circo in Pillole is a collective performance in which students participate in the workshops and the preparation of the show under the supervision of technicians and stage managers and the artistic director and other artistic consultants.
Final course show At the end of the two years of the course the students prepare a final show, which is a summary of what they have learnt during the training. The final course show will be a launch pad for the students, an artistic creation with international circus directors. The artistic collaboration between students and directors will develop the ability to create, the capacity to inhabit the stage spaces and to create all that is necessary to presence of the public.
