On the AI front, Amazon is also reportedly planning to invest up to 50 billion in OpenAI. Last December, in an effort to accelerate its efforts, it reorganised its AI business, changing its top management, now headed by company veteran Peter DeSantis. As a consequence of the focus on Ai, Amazon cut 10% of its corporate employees elsewhere, with 30,000 layoffs since October. It also decided to close its Fresh and Go shops.
